Between Sociopaths and Jellys

Starting our own Invasion
We've been a little bit quiet over the last two/three weeks, as you may have noticed; Sorry! The beautiful irony is, for myself at least (I hold no accountability for the others), that all my time has been committed to painting my Scourge for Invasion, leaving no time whatsoever to post anything on our wonderous blog! When I say all my time I mean it too; I come home, put Dexter on (just finished season 4, and wow) and paint. I'm bored of it, my back is sore of it- why do us gamers put ourselves through this rushed ritual two weeks before a tourney? It's madness I tell you, Madness!

Between painting and watching an over-eager blood splatter analyst I have managed to attend our local club still, and decided to take a few pictures for you all to show our level of commitment in South-West London. A number of people on the FB community have begun to sell up due to lack of play in there area, which is a huge shame. Dropzone is still very much in its infancy, and you can't expect everyone to jump on the bandwagon straight away (even if it is the best sci-fi game out there).

What I'm trying to say is if you are thinking of quitting, well, you're probably not reading a Dropzone blog... Let me re-phrase that:

If you have a friend or acquaintance who is thinking of quitting, tell them to wait. The money is already spent and for it you have handfuls of beautiful resin models, which in their own right are worth keeping. The fanbase will grow, it is all just a matter of patience. Do you think Warhammer 40,000 was immediately popular on it's release? I very much doubt it.

Before Invasion we will have a prevasion podcast to sink your sonic teeth into, and will have a postvasion podcast to follow it up. On top of this we may have even have another little surprise audio nugget for you, which is worth looking out for! Invasion will give us more to discuss in regards to the meta and current play style, and now news is beginning to flow again from Hawk, like some kind of delicious liquid (eww), we will have more to report on.

For the meanwhile here are some pics of our club night last Tuesday, and this isn't even all of the DzC gamers that we have. Keep the faith troopers, people will soon see the light and join the re-conquest!

Sgt. Slaughter's PHR begin the slow plod to mid-table

Skullsword's Resistance doing their best to get the objective away
A guy called Guy moves of six his ten Apollo's (which was reduced to two by the end of game, muhaha)

My Scourge wibble their way up the board cautiously
They finally made it mid-table!

  2. Oh I see, Mikes your favourite is he! I think we might have a camera going too, although that may or may not happen...

  3. Actually, we love all of you (even the red-haired one... Who cares if he has a soul or not?!? He is an awesome player) ;)

Completely unrelated - do you think Mike would sign a couple hundred Tshirts?

    1. Sadly he's not learnt to write yet, so it'll be tricky. I'm sure a 'X' or a hand print can be arranged though!

    1. And we appreciate your viewership and feedback! I think possibly it seems like more people are quitting than actually is because of re-posts, but still peeps gots to stick with it.

    2. Interest has tapered off a bit here in the East Valley of Phoenix, AZ, unfortunately, and I know of one guy who has posted up his army for sale. He and another UCM player are a little discouraged by the UCM command cards (and other army's better command cards, too), but hopefully news that HWG is retooling the cards might get him to change his mind, or at least get the other guy to not pull the trigger and sell off his UCM yet.

A big part of our dwindling interest is the supply chain problem. The only distributor that our FLGS has been able to work with hasn't had a restock in almost 2 months, so the store can't get starter armies to put on the shelf, so that if someone saw a game being played and decided to give it a go, they can't pick up a starter army if their choice "on a whim" (impulse buy) even if they wanted to. It's a bit concerning. I've raised the issue with Simon, but so far no restock at the distributor.

But you guys keep the home fires burning, and keep up the blog and the podcasts and such, and we'll get thru this "dry spell". I'm hoping to have my Talon credentials soon, and waiting for the New Eden campaign materials to become available, so that hopefully I can run a league and we can rekindle interest in thus wonderful game of ours...
